The Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a major breakthrough in gas production at the Shahdad X-1 well in Gambat South Block, Sindh.
By effectively separating a large volume of water from the gas stream using modern technology, the company has not only significantly increased gas output but also improved operational efficiency.
Prior to this technological intervention, the Shahdad X-1 well was producing 2.2 million standard cubic feet of gas per day while also generating a substantial amount of water, reaching up to 3,000 barrels per day. This high water production posed challenges to both gas extraction and transportation.
However, through the implementation of modern water separation technology, PPL has successfully reduced water production to a mere 26 barrels per day.
This dramatic reduction has unlocked substantial gas production potential. Consequently, the well's gas output has surged to an impressive 8.4 million standard cubic feet per day. PPL has informed the stock exchange of the important developments through a letter.
