In a heartwarming act of maternal love, a stray dog in Istanbul, Turkey, brought her unconscious puppy to the doorstep of a veterinary clinic, pleading for help.
The incredible incident, captured on CCTV on January 13, has gone viral, melting hearts worldwide.
According to the staff at the clinic in Beylikduzu's Adnan Kahveci neighbourhood, an animal lover had earlier brought in a puppy found on the street, the only survivor of a stray dog’s litter. While the clinic rushed to save the young pup, they were surprised when the mother arrived shortly after, carrying another unconscious puppy in her mouth.
Veterinary technician Dr Baturalp Oghan and his team sprang into action, treating the second puppy for hypothermia and a dangerously low heart rate. The distressed mother dog followed the staff into the clinic, keeping a close watch as they worked to save her baby.
Dr. Oghan confirmed that both puppies are recovering well, though the clinic continues to provide formula to supplement their diet, as the mother’s milk had been insufficient for the entire litter. Unfortunately, some puppies from the litter did not survive.
“Everything is going well so far. Both the mother dog and her puppies are responding to treatment,” Dr. Oghan said. “The mother’s intelligence and love for her puppies have touched so many people.”
The video of the mother dog’s desperate plea for help has drawn attention from animal lovers around the world. Many have reached out to the clinic, offering support and expressing interest in adopting the family.
