Winter vacations for school students in Punjab officially concluded on January 10, 2025.
However, false rumors regarding an extension of the break have caused confusion among parents and students.
Reports began circulating on social media and WhatsApp claiming that the winter holidays had been extended until January 18, 2025, due to the ongoing cold weather.
Secretary of Education Khalid Nazir Watoo addressed the rumours, confirming that the claims of an extension were entirely unfounded.
In a statement, Watoo assured the public that schools would resume on January 13, 2025, as per the original schedule.
Watoo further emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for updates, urging parents to disregard any information circulating on unofficial platforms.
"All official announcements regarding school holidays or changes will be made through the verified social media channels of the School Education Department Punjab," he said.
The Education Secretary’s clarification aims to prevent further confusion and the spread of false information, urging families to stay informed through the official “School Education Department Punjab” page.
He reminded the public that all updates from the department are communicated through verified channels to ensure accuracy and transparency.
