Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated action against its officials implicated in human smuggling related to the Greece boat tragedy.
A total of 35 officials, including 4 inspectors, 10 sub-inspectors, and 2 assistant sub-inspectors, have been dismissed from service.
Five head constables and 14 constables have also been terminated. Cases have been registered against 13 FIA officials found involved in human trafficking.
FIA director general conducted hearings regarding departmental action against these individuals.
Victims of Greece Boat Tragedy Belonged to Narowal and Sialkot
The FIA has confirmed that the victims of the Greece boat tragedy included Shabbir, Zain, and Zeeshan from Narowal, as well as Owais from Sialkot.
The FIA reported that the bodies of four more victims from the Greece boat tragedy have been recovered, bringing the total number of deceased to nine.
According to the FIA, 49 Pakistani nationals remain missing in the aftermath of the Greece boat disaster.
The identification of the bodies will be conducted through DNA testing, the FIA stated.
Efforts are underway by the Pakistani Embassy to repatriate the bodies to Pakistan, the FIA added.
FIA officials involved in Greece boat tragedy expelled from district
An investigation into the recent Greece boat accident has revealed that several officers and officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were involved in human trafficking, following which departmental action has been initiated against them.
In the first phase, 18 FIA officers and officials involved in the case have been expelled from the district, including a sub-inspector, three ASIs, 11 head constables and three constables. Sialkot Airport Additional Director (Immigration) Ali Zaidi has also been transferred.
All the suspected officers and officials were posted in Gujrat, Gujranwala and Sialkot, while a notification of their transfers has been issued. Kartarpur DD Muhammad Nauman has been given the additional charge of Sialkot airport.
Meanwhile, the FIA officers and officials found involved in the Greece boat accident reached the agency headquarters. They will appear before the DG in person and present their position.

Reportedly, 38 officers and officials allegedly involved in the incident appeared before the FIA DG on being summoned, as the DG is set to personally investigate all these suspects. If found guilty, action would be taken against these officers and officials.
