Winter vacations in schools across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have been extended due to the ongoing severe cold weather conditions in the region.
The Education Department of AJK issued a notification on Tuesday, confirming that educational institutions will remain closed until January 4, 2025, with schools now scheduled to reopen on February 6 instead of the previously announced date of February 2.
The extension applies to both public and private educational institutions throughout the region. The decision was made in light of the ongoing cold spell that has gripped the area, causing challenges for both students and faculty in commuting to schools.
The department cited weather conditions as the primary reason for the delay, ensuring the safety and comfort of the students.
In contrast, the Sindh Education Department has announced the resumption of classes after the winter break. Sindh's Educational institutions, including public and private schools, will reopen today, January 1, 2025, as per the scheduled timeline.
The department had earlier declared holidays for schools from December 21 to 31, 2024.
