In Karachi, Section 144 was imposed for two days to curb aerial firing, one-wheeling, and the use of motorcycles without silencers. Police launched a crackdown on violators, and traffic authorities released a detailed plan to manage vehicular movement.
Roads including Teen Talwar, PIDC, and Club Road remained closed, while heavy traffic was restricted on routes leading to Mai Kolachi.
The Sindh Rangers deployed additional personnel along main roads and public areas. Mobile and motorcycle squads intensified snap-checking and patrolling to maintain order. Karachi police announced that cases of attempted murder would be filed against those involved in aerial firing.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori extended New Year greetings and pledged to offer 500,000 IT courses in 2025. He assured that services including electricity, water, and waste management would be improved.

Port Grand in Karachi organised a concert attended by large crowds, while Park View City in Islamabad sparkled with lights and fireworks. Food stalls and live performances by renowned singers entertained visitors.
In Murree, tourists flocked to Mall Road, creating a carnival-like atmosphere. Authorities ensured strict security arrangements to manage the influx of visitors.
Gujranwala witnessed a spectacular fireworks show, with citizens dancing and chanting slogans in support of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Shazia Marri expressed hope for a prosperous and peaceful 2025. She urged citizens to work collectively for the nation’s progress and paid tribute to the martyrs.
President Zardari's message on new year
