Indian industrialist Sajjan Jindal, accompanied by his family, made a brief visit to Pakistan over the weekend to attend the wedding festivities of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s grandson.
According to sources, Jindal and his family arrived at the Sharif family's palatial residence of Jati Umra in Lahore, to personally congratulate Nawaz Sharif and his family on the wedding of his grandson, Zayd Hussain Nawaz.
The visit, which was kept low-profile, highlighted the personal rapport between the two families. Jindal, along with his wife Sangeeta, spent a few hours in Lahore before departing for Mumbai on a special plane, sources added.
Sajjan Jindal, a prominent figure in India’s business community, is the chairman of JSW Group, a multinational conglomerate with interests in steel, energy, and infrastructure.
The wedding celebrations have attracted various notable figures, with the Sharif family hosting a series of lavish events in Lahore.
The nikkah of Zayd Hussain Nawaz was solemnised on Wednesday night at Jati Umra, kicking off the wedding celebrations. Jati Umra was decorated for the wedding, which was attended by guests from India and other countries.
The barat ceremony was held on Saturday. Close relatives, foreign guests, and political figures participated in the procession. The walima was held on Sunday at Jati Umra.
