Law enforcement agencies have conducted extensive operations against smuggling and power theft throughout 2024, resulting in significant seizures of commodities and recovery of stolen electricity revenues, according to official data.
The nationwide anti-smuggling operations led to the confiscation of 125,736 metric tons of fertilizer and 19,471 metric tons of sugar. Additional seizures included 7,132 metric tons of wheat, 272,822 cigarette stocks, 23,384 textile pieces, and 15.11 liters of petrol.
In parallel enforcement actions targeting electricity theft, authorities recovered Rs 77.226 billion in stolen power revenues and arrested 61,165 individuals for power theft violations. The crackdown represents one of the largest coordinated efforts against utility theft in recent years.
The anti-narcotics campaign yielded seizures of 246.6 metric tons of illegal substances as part of the broader law enforcement initiative.
Enforcement agencies continue to maintain surveillance and conduct regular operations across all provinces, focusing on major smuggling routes and areas with high incidence of power theft.
