A tragic helicopter crash occurred this morning at the Muğla Training and Research Hospital, located in southwestern Türkiye, resulting in the deaths of four health care personnel.
The incident took place around 10 a.m. when an air ambulance, operated by the Ministry of Health, collided with the top floor of the hospital building during takeoff. Following the impact, the helicopter plunged into an adjacent vacant area.
The helicopter, stationed in Muğla for official duties, had been unable to take off the previous day due to adverse weather conditions. This morning, it attempted to depart for Antalya but was met with dense fog shortly after takeoff. The poor visibility caused the helicopter to crash into the hospital and then into the courtyard.
Emergency response teams, including medical, fire, and search-and-rescue units, were quickly dispatched to the scene. Authorities immediately implemented extensive security measures as teams began their operations.
The Ministry of Health later confirmed the loss of four staff members in the tragic crash, including two pilots, a doctor, and a health care worker.
Muğla, known for its scenic landscapes and coastal towns, has been shaken by the incident, which has left the local community in shock. An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with authorities working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
