Four terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire during a counter-terrorism operation in the Rajgal area of Khyber district, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operation, a Pakistan Army soldier, identified as Amir Sohail Afridi, was also martyred.
The ISPR reported that on the night between Thursday and Friday, the operation was launched after a group of militants attempted to infiltrate Pakistan from the Afghanistan border. The forces picked up the movement and effectively engaged and thwarted their infiltration attempt, killing four terrorists.
Pakistani authorities have consistently urged the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management to prevent such incidents. The ISPR says the Afghan authorities are expected to fulfil their obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
The statement says the security forces remain committed to secure its borders and eliminate the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
Amir Afridi hails from Khyber district. He leaves behind parents and siblings. His sacrifice has been hailed as a testament to the Pakistan Army’s commitment to safeguarding national security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Amir Sohail Afridi and offered condolences to his family. He prayed for the soldier’s forgiveness and for strength for the bereaved family to bear this loss.
