Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Barrister Aqeel Malik reassured that the concerns of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would be addressed in connection with the seminaries.
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa TV programme "Do Tok with Kiran Naz", Malik said: "A new government committee would be formed to initiate negotiations, with senior leadership from allied parties expected to join."
He mentioned that although the committee could be in place by the weekend, talks might not commence immediately.
Malik also confirmed that a legal package was under consideration, including amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
– MALIK AHMED KHAN BHACHAR –
Meanwhile, expressing his thoughts on "Do Tok with Kiran Naz", Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar criticised the government for "mishandling the situation". He claimed: "The issue of D-Chowk could burden the ruling party in the long term."
He accused the government of forcing lawmakers to resign and switch allegiances. Bhachar also emphasised that there was growing fascism in the Punjab Assembly, with their party’s members standing firm.
He suggested that if the government was serious about negotiations, results would be visible within a couple of days.
Bhachar added that the opposition had already formed its own committee and urged the government to join their efforts.
He also stressed that had a judicial commission been formed over the May 9 events, the recent turmoil could have been avoided.
– FAISAL EDHI –
Meanwhile, renowned humanitarian Faisal Edhi reported the resolution of a protest at Lasbela Chowk, with roads now open to traffic.
Edhi highlighted ongoing difficulties with access to Parachinar, where ground routes had been blocked for two and a half months.
He emphasised the need for larger aircraft to assist with transferring patients and supplies, as the current resources were insufficient to meet the high demand.
Edhi warned that the worsening cold weather in Parachinar could exacerbate the situation, and urged all parties to work towards a peace agreement to prevent a humanitarian disaster.
He also revealed that children’s wards in Parachinar had been closed due to overwhelming numbers, and hundreds of patients were being transferred to Peshawar.
