Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari expressed on Friday concerns about Pakistan's growing population, terming it a "serious alarm".
Expressing her thoughts, Bokhari said, "The rest of the Islamic countries have implemented family planning measures, while Pakistan has been unable to do so."
Bokhari said, "The insufficient focus on providing quality education for children remains a critical issue."
Stressing the need for setting priorities to tackle national challenges, Bokhari maintained, "The collective efforts are essential for Pakistan’s progress."
The minister underlined the importance of enforcing related laws, saying, "The early marriages of young girls in Punjab are not permissible."
She added that poverty persists partly because families fail to make decisions according to their financial capacities.
