Pakistan ace fast bowler Mohammad Amir decided on Saturday to bid farewell to the international cricket following the Green Shirts’ T20 World Cup debacle, earlier this June.
According to details, the 32-year-old cricketer had made this announcement on X (formerly Twitter). “After careful consultation, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable,” said Amir.
He said: “I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights!”
“Representing my country has been and always will be the greatest honour of my life,” Amir maintained.
He added, “I would sincerely like to thank the PCB, my family and friends and, above all my fans for their continuous love and support.”
Earlier, this year Amir had reversed his retirement and was called to represent in the T20I format for the T20 World Cup, which happened jointly in the Caribbean and the United States. However, Pakistan had to face a debacle at the outset of the mega-event following their defeats to US and India in the group stage.
