The upper regions of Azad Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Leepa and Karnah, experienced light snowfall, while lower areas witnessed intermittent rain on Wednesday.
According to details, in high-altitude locations such as Gurez, Arang Kel, Shounter, and Jagran, snow transformed the landscape, marking the onset of winter in these regions.
Muzaffarabad city remained under overcast skies, with light rain expected soon.
Neighbouring mountainous peaks, including Makra and Ganja mountains, also recorded light snowfall, adding to the cold spell gripping the region.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that the ongoing cold wave persisted across the country. Islamabad’s temperature dropped to 0°C, while Leh recorded -10°C, and Gupis -7°C.
Other notable figures included -6°C in Skardu, Astore, Kalam, and Kalat; -5°C in Bagrot and Chitral; and -4°C in Gilgit, Hunza, Dir, Quetta, and Malam Jabba. Drosh and Parachinar recorded -3°C.
In Karachi, the cold intensified, with a recorded temperature of 11°C but a perceived temperature of 10°C due to the wind chill.
The Meteorological Department predicted a further drop of 2 to 3 degrees. Humidity in the city stood at 54 per cent, with light fog reducing visibility to 4 kilometres.
Winds blew at a speed of 8 knots, and daytime temperatures were expected to range between 22°C and 24°C.
The weather department forecasted a further decline in temperatures nationwide in the coming days.
