Jonathan Trott will continue as the head coach of Afghanistan until the end of 2025 after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) awarded him a one-year extension.
The board announced this decision on Monday, crediting Trott's contributions during his two-and-a-half-year tenure.
Under Trott's guidance, Afghanistan achieved remarkable progress, including reaching the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup for the first time earlier this year.
Last year, the team secured notable victories over former champions England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup.
Their top-eight finish in the tournament ensured their debut in the Champions Trophy next year.
"The decision comes in after his successful two-and-a-half-year tenure during which he made significant contributions to the team's progress and development," the ACB said in a statement.
Trott will oversee the team during the ODI matches of their multi-format tour of Zimbabwe this month.
However, he will miss the remaining fixtures due to personal reasons, with Hamid Hassan stepping in as the interim coach during his absence.
