The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has announced that over 72,000 Hajj applications have been received under the Government Hajj Scheme as the submission deadline approaches. Applications will be accepted at designated banks until Tuesday.
Ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt stated that applicants can join their relatives' Hajj groups for added convenience. He explained the payment process for the Regular Hajj Scheme, requiring an initial deposit of PKR 200,000, followed by a second installment of PKR 400,000 within ten days of the balloting. The final installment is due by February 10.
The ministry also allows overseas Pakistanis to sponsor Hajj applications for themselves or their relatives, broadening accessibility to the pilgrimage.
"This initiative ensures a smooth and transparent Hajj process while facilitating applicants," Umar Butt emphasized.
National Hifz and Qirat Competition Announced
In addition to Hajj updates, the ministry has launched the 40th Annual National Hifz and Qirat Competition. The competition invites nominations from all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
District and provincial-level competitions are scheduled, with provinces directed to finalize and submit their nominations by January 15. Winners from the provincial rounds will advance to the national-level competition.
Spokesperson Umar Butt highlighted that national winners will have the chance to represent Pakistan in international competitions, promoting Quranic education and talent on a global platform.
Separate categories for boys, girls, and youth ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for participants of all ages. "This initiative nurtures young talent and fosters the love for Quranic education across the country," Umar Butt added.
