Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif said on Sunday that now there was no need to hold the forthcoming Champions Trophy.
Expressing his thoughts, Latif said, “It would be better that Pakistan refuse to play before India refuses to participate in the event.” He acknowledged Pakistan’s stance on the Champions Trophy stalemate.
“It is good for us that we are fighting our case pertaining to the Champions Trophy. But I am not sure where we will stand if India go for a boycott of the mega-event,” said Latif.

Latif underlined the importance of focusing on club cricket. “The player with good experience in club cricket can be a fine captain.”
Stressing the need for uplifting grassroots cricket, Latif said, “No benefits will be reaped if you do not invest in grassroots cricket.”
“You will not find the talent like Wasim Akram and Javed Miandad if grassroots cricket is not focused,” said Latif.
