Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain said on Saturday that the registration of seminaries was the need of the hour.
Expressing his thoughts, Hussain said, “I have continued to hold discussions with the seminaries, clerics, and political leaders in this regard. It was due to the demands of Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the bill had been approved from the parliament.”
“There is a time required to finalise the matters in line with the seminaries’ bill due to some legal complexities,” said Hussain.
“But rollback of the entire process of the registration of the seminaries cannot be justified. There also came seminaries merely under the ministry of education,” maintained Hussain.

“18,000 seminaries had been registered under the Directorate General of Religious Education (DGRE),” said Hussain.
He said, “There exists a very easy one-window operation at the DGRE in line with the registration of the seminaries.”
