Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have announced plans to restart their 'Delhi Chalo' march, scheduled to begin on December 6th. The movement follows unsuccessful negotiations between farmer unions and government representatives.
The protest, organized by Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Kisan Ekta Morcha, comes after previous attempts to reach Delhi were interrupted. Due to previous challenges in Haryana, farmers have adjusted their strategy, opting to travel in smaller groups instead of using tractors.
Security measures have been enhanced around Delhi's borders in preparation for the planned march. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Protest leader Sarwan Singh Pandher indicated that farmers have been demonstrating for several months, seeking resolution of their concerns. He stated that the march would be peaceful and that local police have been notified of their intentions.
Previous march attempts in February resulted in confrontations between farmers and security forces. The current movement represents continued efforts to draw attention to agricultural policy issues.
Government officials, including representatives from the Railways Ministry and Haryana's Agriculture Department, are aware of the planned march. Farmer leaders have emphasized their determination to proceed if permission is not granted.
