A Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) indicted on Thursday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwarts Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid and others in the May 9 arson and vandalism case.
According to details, the court rejected the accused's plea of innocence and summoned prosecution witnesses on December 16.
The ATC judge conducted the hearing at a court set up inside the jail. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Omer Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Senator Ejaz Chaudhary were presented before the court.
The court read out the charges from the challan to the accused, who denied the allegations.
Despite their denial, the court formally charged them.
Moreover, the charges pertained to an FIR registered at the Sarwar Road police station in connection with incidents of vehicle torching and property damage during the May 9 protests.
Advocate Burhan Muazzam Malik represented the PTI leaders during the hearing.
The judge ordered the prosecution to present its witnesses on December 16 for further proceedings.
