Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari has announced that Pakistan and Russia will commence a trial freight train service in March, signaling a strengthening of economic and political ties between the two nations.
Speaking on the evolving bilateral relations, the minister emphasized that Pakistan's engagement with Russia is driven by national interests and is not influenced by external pressures. "Our relationship with Russia is for Pakistan's benefit and is not dictated by anyone," he stated.
Leghari dismissed the notion of viewing Pakistan-Russia ties through the lens of East-West dynamics, stressing that Pakistan is open to working with all its partners for mutual benefit.
Highlighting international cooperation, the minister noted that both Russia and China are actively supporting Pakistan in various sectors, further bolstering the country’s development goals.
The trial freight train service is expected to pave the way for enhanced connectivity and trade opportunities between Pakistan and Russia, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations.
