The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore on Wednesday approved the bail of five accused including Sanam Javed in the case pertaining to burning cars outside Jinnah House on May 9, while the bail of Rubina Jameel was rejected.
Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court heard the bail pleas during the post-arrest hearing.
The lawyers of the accused argued that the police had registered the case on false and political grounds and that nothing incriminating was found during the investigation. They also pointed out that the accused had been in jail on judicial remand for a long time and there was no need for further investigation.
The court ordered the release of the five accused on bail, but the public prosecutor pleaded for the bails to be dismissed. The court rejected the bail of Rubina Jameel but approved the bails of Syed Faisal, Umeer, Afshan Tariq, Sanam Javed, and Ali Hassan.
The case against the accused was registered by Sarwar Road police station. It should be noted that a case was registered against the accused by Sarwar Road police station.
