The Punjab Excise Department has officially launched its vanity number plates project, allowing citizens to personalise their vehicle plates through an innovative bidding system.
The inauguration ceremony for the initiative was held at Alhamra Hall, Lahore, and attended by prominent officials.
Speaking at the event, Excise Secretary Masood Mukhtar explained that under the project, citizens would be able to get their name inscribed on their vehicle's registration plate through the vanity scheme of the Excise Department. He claimed that citizens were showing great interest in getting their desired number plates through online bidding.
"Platinum, gold and corporate categories have been introduced for interested applicants," he explained. Mukhtar announced plans to extend the application deadline, ensuring more individuals can benefit from the scheme.
Excise Director General Umar Sher Chattha emphasized that the initiative would also generate significant revenue for the national treasury.
The vanity number plates can be acquired online through a competitive bidding process, making it an accessible and transparent option for citizens.
