Sony's PlayStation has just unveiled its latest addition to the console family, perfectly timed for the upcoming holiday season.
Surprisingly, this sleeker version is not dubbed the "PS5 Slim"; Sony is simply calling it the 'new PS5,' indicating its role as a direct replacement for the previous model.
The compact design of the new PS5 includes a 1TB storage capacity for both the revamped PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition.
Notably, the PS5 Digital Edition now offers the option to attach an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive if desired.
For those opting for the PS5 Digital Edition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 can be purchased separately at $80/£100/120 Euros.
According to Sony, the new PS5 boasts reductions in volume, being more than 30% smaller, and in weight, shedding 18% and 24% compared to its predecessors.
These changes not only make it more compact but also significantly lighter.
The new design features four distinct cover panels, with the top portion having a glossy finish, while the bottom retains its matte look.
Sony has announced that the new PS5 model will hit the shelves in the US this November.
It will gradually become available worldwide as it replaces the existing PS5 model, which will continue to be sold until stocks are depleted.
