The Second International Punjabi Conference, organized by the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (PILAC) in collaboration with the Punjabi Prachar and Punjabi Lehr held at Gaddafi Stadium’s Punjab Institute of Language Arts and Culture (PILAC).
The three-day event brings together a wide array of Punjabi intellectuals, scholars, and cultural personalities from across the globe, including from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.
The conference covered key issues related to Punjabi literature, history, and politics, and featured a series of panel discussions, research presentations, book launches, drama performances, mushaira, and music.
On the opening day, renowned writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar delivered the keynote address. Key discussions included the national and political consciousness of Punjabis, featuring notable figures such as Sohail Waraich, Farrukh Sohail Goindi, Nain Sukh, and Shuk Bohra.
The second panel focused on Punjabi and the promotion of new technology, moderated by Mudassar Iqbal, with contributions from leading personalities in film, politics, and literature. Comedians Salim Albela and Goga Pasruri will also entertain the audience.
Mother tongue education was the subject of the third panel, with speakers like Jaswant Singh Zafar, Jameel Pal, Sukhi Bath, and Parveen Malik. A fourth discussion will explore Punjabi bravery, with Naseem Kausar moderating and Dr. Shabnam Ishaq, Gurcharan Kaur, Shamsa Hussain, and Rubina Jameel as panelists.
The conference also featured a drama performance titled Parmesh Singh, along with a panel discussion on Punjabi literature’s connection to the people, featuring Khalid Hussain, Zubair Ahmed, Sahej Preet Mangat, and Khalid Farid Dhalwal. Additionally, the results of competitions in Punjabi short films, reels, and writing will be announced during the event.
The cultural and intellectual gathering promises to be a vibrant celebration of Punjabi heritage while fostering discussions on its future.
Drama and singing performance
A beautiful presentation of drama based on the 1947 partition riots was presented before the audience at PILAC. The actors received a huge round of applause from the jam-packed audience.
Ashok Pora, a renowned figure in Punjabi literature, known for his contributions to modern Punjabi poetry, presented his poetry uniting Punjabis across the border.
Famous Punjabi TikTokers and content creators were present at the conference.
