Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Asim Munir met with Australian Army Chief Lieutenant General Simon Stuart at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today.
The high-level meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly the evolving global and regional security situation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both military leaders discussed several strategic matters, with a specific emphasis on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations in the realms of defence and security.
The Australian army chief expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in counter-terrorism, recognizing the country's significant role in regional peace.
Meanwhile, General Asim Munir emphasised the importance of robust cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that Pakistan’s military continues to play a critical role in combating terrorism, both domestically and internationally.
The discussion also covered broader regional security dynamics, with both generals reaffirming their commitment to enhancing collaboration in defence and security to ensure regional and global peace.
They recognised the importance of sustained cooperation to address shared challenges.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, Lieutenant General Simon Stuart was accorded a warm welcome by senior Pakistani military officials. He was greeted with a guard of honor by the Pakistan Army's armed troops.
The Australian army chief also paid tribute to the country's fallen soldiers by visiting the martyrs' memorial at GHQ, where he laid a floral wreath in honor of their sacrifices.
