In the wake of Donald Trump's election victory, the Chinese ambassador to the United States has made a statement, stressing the importance of mutual respect and caution in China-US relations.
Speaking at an event in Washington, the Chinese ambassador underscored that no one benefits from a trade or scientific war and urged both nations to prioritize constructive cooperation over rivalry.
The ambassador emphasized that China and the United States should respect each other's sovereignty, calling it a cornerstone for maintaining stable bilateral relations. Addressing the sensitive issue of Taiwan, he warned that it remains a "red line" for China, which should not be crossed.
“No one can stop China’s development,” he stated firmly, adding that any attempts to hinder China’s progress would be “like hitting a wall.” He advocated for a future in which the two economic giants work together to create opportunities rather than challenges, benefiting not only their citizens but also the global community.
Highlighting China’s commitment to fostering dialogue, the ambassador expressed optimism for cooperation on global issues, inviting the US to work collaboratively rather than competitively.
He concluded that mutual success for China and the US could only be achieved through a focus on shared interests and respect for each other’s sovereignty, not through conflict.
