Pakistani sports presenter and commentator Zainab Abbas has left India due to a "personal reason", an ICC spokesperson told Arab News Pakistan on Monday.
Zainab Abbas was in India as part of the ICC's list of presenters for the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
However, her stay took an unexpected turn when an Indian lawyer filed a complaint against her with accusations of making derogatory remarks on social media platforms against India and the Hindu religion based on her almost decade-old tweets.
Indian media had reported that the Pakistani presenter had been 'deported' from India.
She has left for a personal reason and was not deported, according to ICC Spokesperson C. Rajshekhar Rao as reported by the publication.
This sanctions what SAMAA DIGITAL had reported earlier in the day.
The ICC official declined to elaborate on the reason for her departure and did not specify if she had arrived back in Pakistan, according to Arab News.
However, she has moved to Dubai from India according to our sources.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also not commented on the issue yet.
Meanwhile, Pakistani fans and journalists are still waiting for visas to travel to India for the World Cup.
Visas for the Pakistan team were granted barely 48 hours before they left for what is their first tour of India since the T20 World Cup in 2016.
