The Punjab environment department issued a red alert for Lahore as the city braces for a new wave of smog, posing significant health risks to residents.
According to details, the winds traveling from India at speeds of 8 kilometers per hour are expected to worsen the air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) set to reach hazardous levels.
This toxic smog has already spread to nearby regions, including Multan, with alarming AQI readings ringing alarm bells.
Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur are also beginning to experience the impacts of this severe air pollution.
Despite existing bans on polluting vehicles, motorbikes, and barbecuing activities, many areas are flouting these regulations, exacerbating the situation. Medical experts emphasize the urgent need for public caution to prevent health complications associated with poor air quality.
The citizens are urged to take protective measures as the smog envelops Lahore, which has historically struggled with air pollution during this season.
