Pakistani TikToker Manahil Malik announced her decision to permanently leave social media in the wake of a scandal involving allegedly inappropriate videos.
The news follows a tumultuous period during which the young influencer faced significant backlash and public scrutiny.
In an emotional message shared on her social media accounts, Manahil expressed her gratitude to her supporters but lamented the harsh realities of the online world.
“I have made this decision after much thought. I am grateful for all the support and love you have given me, but this world does not allow anyone to live in peace; it is very cruel,” she stated.
Her farewell message resonated with many as she shared her feelings of exhaustion and despair. “I hope I won’t show my face to you again,” she added, hinting at her deep disappointment with the public's reaction.
The controversy erupted last week when videos purportedly featuring Manahil circulated widely, igniting a wave of criticism and speculation on social media. In a bid to protect her reputation, she approached the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cyber Crime Unit, seeking action against those she accused of tarnishing her image.
Manahil maintained that the videos were fabricated using artificial intelligence technology, asserting their inauthenticity.
Despite her clarifications, skepticism remained rampant. Many users on various platforms, along with some celebrities, accused Manahil of leaking the videos herself to gain fame, further exacerbating the situation. The harsh criticisms seemed to take a toll on the TikToker, who described herself as feeling “dead inside” and overwhelmed by the negativity.
In her Instagram stories, she shared poignant reflections on life’s fragility, urging her followers to cherish their loved ones and embrace forgiveness. “Life is very short,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of relationships and the unpredictable nature of existence. “Spend more time with loved ones and recognize that life can end at any moment without warning.”
In what she described as her final address to her fans, Manahil implored critics to halt the cycle of hate and negativity that she feels has engulfed her life.
