On 28 April 2024, 12 May 2024, 24 May 2024 and 7 June 2024, Samaa TV published four articles on its website entitled “Conspiracy by Adil Raja, Shayan Ali and lawyer against Pakistan Army fails in UK court”, “Mandi Bahauddin businessman, Indian partner funding Adil Raja in UK”, “Indian man confirms setting up law firm that funds Adil Raja” and “Adil Raja slapped with another fine by UK court in defamation case by retired Pakistan army officer”.
In these articles, we made a number of extremely serious allegations about Mr Ahmad Jawad and Mr Mahtab Anwar Aziz (two British citizens of Pakistani origin) and their representation, through their legal practice in the United Kingdom, Central Chambers Law Solicitors, of two individuals who had been parties to legal proceedings in the English courts.
These allegations included that Mr Jawad was funding anti-Pakistan activities and that Mr Aziz, a solicitor in the United Kingdom, had deliberately misled the English courts during his representation of an individual in legal proceedings.
We accept that the articles’ allegations regarding Ahmad Jawad, Mahtab Anwar Aziz, their former and current colleagues and legal practice were entirely false, and that they should never have been published.
We would like to apologise unreservedly to Mr Jawad his family members and Mr Aziz for the distress and harm that was caused through our publication of these false allegations. We are currently conducting an internal investigation as to how these serious and false allegations came to be published by us.
