Renowned rapper Drake has made a significant announcement, revealing his decision to take a break from his music career.
The multi-Grammy winner expressed the need to prioritize his health, particularly his long-standing stomach issues.
This announcement came shortly after the release of his latest album, "For All The Dogs."
During his radio show on Friday, Drake candidly shared his intentions: "I probably won't make music for a little bit, I'm gonna be honest."
He explained his decision, stating, "I need to focus on my health, first and foremost."
Drake, known for hits like "Hotline Bling," emphasized the importance of well-being in life and acknowledged his ongoing stomach problems.
He pledged to "lock the door on the studio for a little bit," although the duration of his hiatus remains uncertain. "Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little longer," he added.
The rapper, who enjoys a massive following on social media, later shared a clip from his radio program on Instagram, informing his 143 million followers: "See ya when I see ya."
In light of his decision, Drake has postponed several upcoming performances, including those scheduled in his hometown of Toronto.
Concerts in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, and Columbus, Ohio, have also been affected.
Drake's decision to prioritize his health echoes recent instances in the music industry, where artists have taken breaks or canceled tour dates due to health concerns.
Drake, at the age of 36, has risen to prominence as one of the leading figures in hip-hop, and his decision to take a break underscores the significance of personal well-being in the entertainment world.
