Federal Interior Secretary Muhammad Abdullah Khan Sumbal died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
The funeral prayer of Abdullah Khan Sambal will be offered on Thursday (September 7) after the Asr prayer at Jamia Masjid Habib, Tufail Road, Lahore Cantt.
Abdullah Khan Sumbal was the seasoned bureaucrat, who served as Punjab chief secretary, commissioner of Lahore division and multiple others important posts in Punjab and elsewhere.
In 2022, Abdullah Khan Sumbal was appointed as chief secretary by the establishment division.
Sumbal served as the acting chief secretary on the key post that was vacant for a long time due to prolonged vacations – 105 days - of chief secretary Kamran Ali Afzal. Notably, Afzal had refused to work with Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s government in 2022.
Big loss for Civil Service of Pakistan
Federal Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti expressed his condolences and commented that Sumbal was a brilliant officer and his demise was a big loss for his family and civil service of Pakistan.
Thorough gentleman
Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif also expressed condolences over the sad demise of the bureaucrat.
“Can't believe this saddest of the news about the passing of Abdullah Khan Sumbal. I have known him for about two decades. He worked very closely with me as my Secretary, as well as in other key field positions. I found him a thorough gentleman whose professional and personal integrity was beyond any iota of doubt,” he added.
