The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued a weather alert, warning of widespread rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several districts of the province.
According to a spokesperson from PDMA, the rain is predicted to begin tomorrow, October 5, and will likely continue until October 8.
Districts expected to be affected by the weather include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mandi Bahauddin.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has directed all deputy commissioners (DCs) and local administrations across the province to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
"We have instructed 24/7 monitoring of the situation through the PDMA control room," Kathia said, ensuring that continuous assessments are being made to mitigate any potential risks.
Rescue teams, including emergency services such as Rescue 1122, have been alerted to prepare for immediate response in case of emergencies. The DG also emphasized the importance of quick drainage of water in residential areas to prevent urban flooding and ensure public safety.
