Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed on Tuesday that his party holds no reservations regarding whether Justice Qazi Faez Isa or Justice Mansoor Ali Shah leads the proposed Constitutional Court.
Addressing the Balochistan High Court Bar, he affirmed the PPP’s respect for both judges, highlighting that the party's focus remains on strengthening judicial institutions, not individual preferences.
Bilawal Bhutto praised the lawyers of Balochistan for their resistance against dictatorship and highlighted the province's struggles with terrorism.
He stressed the need to abolish "black laws" created by dictators and restore the 1973 Constitution to its original form.
The PPP chairman also took a jibe at the contempt of court laws, questioning whether punishing individuals for life for speaking against judges constitutes freedom of expression.
Mr Bilawal also expressed concerns about the judiciary's focus on political issues, diverting attention from core responsibilities.
The former foreign minister also advocated for a Constitutional Court to provide speedy justice and ensure judges focus on constitutional matters. He emphasized the need to end the concept of "sacred cow" and establish constitutional courts at federal and provincial levels.
"The purpose of establishing the Constitutional Court is not to fix a judge, but it is a basic need, and I will continue to strive for it," Bilawal asserted.
