More than 2 million taxpayers have filed their income tax returns for the tax year 2023 as of October 5, 2023, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Last year, a total of 4.2 million taxpayers filed their returns for the tax year 2022 by June 30, 2022. This number includes those who filed their returns after September 30, 2022, but before June 30, 2022.
The FBR has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns to October 31, 2023.
The FBR received a total of 1.93 million income tax returns by September 30, 2023, compared to 1.87 million last year, reflecting an increase of 0.06 million.
The deadline for filing income tax returns is approaching quickly, and taxpayers are rushing to meet it. The FBR has extended the deadline this year, but it is still important to file your return as soon as possible to avoid any late filing penalties.
