Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shibli Faraz said on Friday that the country's prosperity hinged on the independent judiciary.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Faraz said: "I will not say this is the constitutional amendment but the evil amendment. The independent judiciary is not only the demand of the PTI but of the entire country."
"The lawyers should rise to the occasion for the protection of the judiciary," Faraz said.
"Tomorrow, we are having a protest," he said.
"None of the PTI senators is in contact with the government," Faraz added.
Meanwhile, expressing his thoughts, PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram said: "The purpose of bringing the amendment is to ban the PTI. Those who had only bagged 16 seats are having no right to bring any amendment."
"The PTI will continue to show resistance against the constitutional amendment," Akram stated.
Akram asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) chief election commissioner and all other members to tender their resignations."
Maulana Fazlur Rehman had said that he will not support any act that goes against the constitution of the country."
– Apology 'not good enough' for PTI leaders' arrest: Barrister Ali Zafar –
PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar said on Thursday that the apology was "not good enough" for his party leaders' arrest.
Expressing his thoughts during the Senate session, Zafar said: "The premier or interior minister will have to tender the resignation. If you will not do this, then it will be up to your conscience."
"The arrest of the lawmakers from the Parliament House is condemnable," said Zafar.
