The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee (PASC) has announced its members responsible for selecting Pakistan's entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2024 Oscars.
The committee, led by Chairman Mo Naqvi, features accomplished individuals from Pakistan's film and entertainment industry.
The committee members include renowned actors Fawad Khan and Ahmed Ali Akbar, celebrated writer and Bailey's prize nominee Fatima Bhutto, accomplished filmmakers Bilal Lashari and Saim Sadiq, versatile artist Nadia Afghan, event director, producer, and activist Frieha Altaf, documentary filmmaker and co-founder of the Documentary Association of Pakistan Haya Fatima, and award-winning documentary filmmaker, journalist, and cultural critic Madeeha Syed.
Additionally, award-winning producer, director, and editor Mehreen Jabbar is also part of the committee.
Last year, Pakistan's official entry for the Oscar's Best Foreign Language Film category was the critically acclaimed film "Joyland," which won the Cannes Jury Award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and received acclaim on various platforms.
With this distinguished committee, Pakistan's film industry is well-positioned to showcase its best work to the world and compete for the prestigious Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category, representing the hopes and aspirations of the country's film community.
