US Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election, has accepted CNN's invitation for a second debate against her Republican rival, Donald Trump.
The debate is scheduled for October 23, as confirmed by her campaign on Saturday.
The first debate between Harris and Trump took place on September 10, where both candidates claimed victory. Harris' campaign manager, Jen O'Malley Dillon, urged Trump to participate, noting that the debate will follow the same format as the CNN debate he attended in June, a debate he had previously praised for its moderators, rules, and ratings.
The Trump campaign has not yet responded to the invitation. After the September 10 debate, Harris indicated her readiness for a second round, while Trump has remained non-committal. Last week, Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he would not engage in another debate with Harris before the November 5 election, declaring, "THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!"
During their first debate, Harris and Trump clashed on various critical issues, including immigration, violence, abortion, the economic crisis, and the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Harris challenged Trump on his suitability for office, his stance on abortion, and his ongoing legal challenges, putting him on the defensive throughout the exchange.
