Law enforcement agencies in Swat have uncovered a new strategy employed by terrorists to coordinate attacks on police forces using the popular online game, PUBG.
This conclusion follows an attack on a police checkpost on August 28, during which terrorists utilized a magnetic bomb, resulting in the death of an officer and injuries to two others.
Dr. Zahidullah, the district police officer (DPO) of Swat, reported that upon arresting three suspects involved in the attack, authorities learned that the terrorists had been using PUBG for communication -- a tactic previously unknown to the police.
"When we caught the terrorists, we first came to know that they were using the PUBG game for communication, which was new to us," Dr. Zahidullah stated.
The game is believed to have resulted in social evils. But in the attack on the police in Swat also, the use of the game has come to light.
The attack on the police post marked the first instance of a magnetic bomb being used in the region, adding a new layer of complexity to security challenges. "It was found out that it was a magnetic IED, which was a new thing for us," Dr. Zahidullah added.
In response to these emerging threats, the Swat police have activated a monitoring and control centre, leveraging modern technology, including advanced surveillance cameras, to keep a close watch on potential terrorist activities.
The police are committed to thwarting these malicious plans with the help of innovative technology and increased vigilance.
