Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation H.E. Alexey Overchuk called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday during his official visit to Pakistan.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the two leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, focusing on regional security dynamics and bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
During the meeting, COAS Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing defence relations with Russia, stating that the two countries share traditional ties in defence.
He emphasised Pakistan's interest in further strengthening security and defence cooperation with Moscow in multiple domains.
Deputy PM Overchuk lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their crucial role in the fight against terrorism and their continuous efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
He also underscored Russia’s willingness to deepen collaboration with Pakistan across diverse sectors.
The meeting is viewed as part of the ongoing diplomatic and defence engagement between the two countries, aimed at enhancing ties and addressing shared security concerns.
Officials from both sides reiterated their resolve to maintain close cooperation in various areas, with a focus on enhancing regional peace and security.
