Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah commended on Tuesday the Indian hockey team for clinching the Asian Championship Trophy for retaining the title.
Taking to X (following Twitter), Shah said: “I am elated to see the Indian Men's Hockey team’s undefeated campaign at the Asian Championship Trophy 2024.”
He said: “The Indian hockey team have displayed an aggressive and dominant performance in the tournament as they clinch the trophy!”
“Congratulations to captain Harmanpreet Singh and his team India,” Shah maintained.
Last month, Shah was elected on Monday as the unopposed president of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
According to details, the tenure of Greg Barclay as the ICC chairman will end in November. Jay Shah will take charge as the ICC chairman on December 1.

Last month, Shah had been elected as the new chair of the ICC following the decision by the current chair, Greg Barclay, not to seek a third term. In his acceptance speech, Shah expressed his dedication to expanding the global reach and popularity of cricket.
He highlighted the inclusion of cricket in the LA 2028 Olympics as a pivotal opportunity for the sport's growth on the world stage.
“I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council,” Shah stated. He emphasized his commitment to working closely with the ICC team and member nations to further globalize cricket.
Shah also stressed the importance of balancing multiple formats of the game, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies, and introducing ICC's marquee events to new global markets.
“Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before,” Shah concluded.
