The Pakistani government issues a unique identity card known as the CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) to every citizen, and it is a one-time issuance.
This document comprises 13 digits and records both demographic and biometric data of individuals.
The information stored on CNICs serves as a means to facilitate the fair and efficient distribution of government subsidies and benefits to eligible individuals, ensuring transparency in the process.
Smart NIC
The New Smart National Identity Card, commonly known as CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card), is a one-time issued document by the Pakistani government. Each CNIC is assigned a unique 13-digit number that securely stores a person's demographic and biometric data.
The smart card leverages cutting-edge technology to streamline government subsidies and benefits distribution, ensuring a transparent and efficient process.
Eligibility
One of the key highlights of the Smart NIC is its inclusivity. Every Pakistani national aged 18 years and above is eligible to apply for this advanced form of identification.
Affordable fee structure
As of October 2023, NADRA has revamped its fee structure to make the Smart NIC more accessible to citizens.
The normal fee for obtaining a new Smart NIC is now set at a modest Rs750, allowing a wider segment of the population to benefit from this enhanced form of identification.
For those in need of expedited services, NADRA offers an urgent service at a fee of Rs1500, ensuring a faster processing time for their Smart NIC applications.
Additionally, for those who require a premium service experience, an executive service is now available at a fee of Rs2500. This service option aims to provide maximum convenience and efficiency to applicants.
