Usman Khan’s (111 off 110) maiden century and Mohammad Hasnain’s (5-74) five-for powered the Panthers to 50-run victory against the Dolphins at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad in the third match of the Champions One-Day Cup on Saturday.
DOLPHINS’ INNINGS
Chasing an insurmountable 329-run over, the Dolphins were bundled out for 278 with three overs remaining. Qasim Akram (65 off 62) and Sahibzada Farhan (52 off 69) were the two batters who notched up the fifty for the Dolphins.
Akram had smashed eight boundaries and one six before he was flummoxed by Hasnain. Farhan whacked four boundaries and one six before he was removed by Usama Mir.
Faheem Ashraf (41), Muhammad Huraira (39) and Saud Shakeel (24) showed some resistance.
Muhammad Akhlaq (16), Mir Hamza (13), Asif Ali (10), Abbas Afridi (6), Usman Qadir (6), Noman Ali (1) failed to show any significant resistance with the bat.
For the Panthers, Mohammad Hasnain (5-74) spearheads the bowling attack by bagging his fourth five wicket-haul.
Usama Mir (2-48) and Mubasir Khan (2-58) took two wickets apiece.
Panthers’ captain (1-60) Shadab Khan took a scalp.
PANTHERS’ INNINGS
After electing to bat, the Panthers were off to a shaky start, losing two wickets for 19 runs, before Usman Khan and Umar Siddiq stitched a crucial 70-run partnership to rebound the Panthers’ innings. Siddiq was run out by Asif Ali.
Usman continued to show resistance with the willow and went on compile his maiden List A century. He clobbered 11 boundaries and three boundaries, before he was removed by Abbas Afridi.
Shadab Khan (65 off 45) had played a captain’s inning, smashing five boundaries and two sixes.
Haider Ali (63 off 46) had also played a terrific knock, smoking five boundaries and three sixes.
Usama Mir (22 off 13) played a cameo, scoring four boundaries and one six.
Saim Ayub (6), Abdul Bangalzai (5), Mubasir (5), Amad Butt (11), Mohammad Hasnain (0), Ahmed Bashir (1) failed to show any significant resistance with the bat.
For the Dolphins, Usman Qadir (3-63) had picked up three wickets.
Mir Hamza (2-50) and Abbas Afridi (2-68) grabbed two wickets apiece.
Qasim Akram (0-18) and Noman Ali (0-76) remained wicketless.

For scooping up his fourth five-four in List A cricket, Mohammad Hasnain was named player of the match.
