Over 20 people were killed when a passenger bus carrying some 40 tourists veered off elevated overpass, and plunged about 15 metres and caught fire near Venice in northern Italy, officials said.
According to details, the bus veered off the road on Tuesday evening at approximately 19:45pm local time and crashed through a barrier, plummeted onto electricity lines and caught fire.
Venice City Councillor Renato Boraso said that among the passengers, 21 had died and 18 were injured.
“An apocalyptic scene, there are no words,” Venice’s Mayor Luigi Brugnaro wrote in a post on social media.

Official mourning has been declared in Venice in memory of the victims, the mayor added.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
