Pakistan Opener Fakhar Zaman will have to leave the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) to ensure his participation in the Champions One-Day Cup, slated to happen from September 12 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Sources divulged on Saturday that Zaman will return home ahead of the start of the domestic tournament, featuring five teams. Zaman had played so far two matches for his team in the CPL, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. He compiled 83 runs in two innings.
On the other hand, the sources privy to the development said that Pakistan cricketer Azam Khan is more likely to not be a part of any of the teams in the Champions One-Day Cup. Khan will be available for the remaining fixtures of the CPL.
Moreover, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim will also be available for all the matches of the CPL, due to their retirement from ODIs.
Meanwhile, Saim Ayub, who racked up fifty against Bangladesh in the first innings of the second Test, had already missed the Caribbean premium tournament due to his commitment to the Pakistan red-ball format.
