In view of the prediction of a possible earthquake in Balochistan, the Commissioner of Quetta Division Hamza Shafqat directed the district administration to remain high alert.
In a statement on microblogging website X, Hamza Shafaqat claimed that the Meteorological Department had not verified the earthquake report from the international research group SSGS. However, the government has begun holding practice exercises. The situation is being closely watched around-the-clock, and emergency services are well prepared to handle any emergency.
He asked the citizens to remain calm and keep themselves informed through authentic sources and follow the safety measures issued by the government in case of emergency.
The district administration also banned mining in Quetta for two days. According to the notification, miners will not be allowed to enter the mines for two days.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Pashin called an emergency meeting in view of the possible earthquake. The emergency situation and available resources will be reviewed in the meeting.
