Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are set to divorce after just two years of marriage. Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to court documents.
The couple, often referred to as "Bennifer" by the media, initially married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and later celebrated with a larger ceremony in Georgia the following month. Their romance began in 2003 while filming the crime drama *Gigli*, and although they were set to marry that year, they broke off their engagement in early 2004. They rekindled their relationship nearly two decades later.
After announcing their Las Vegas wedding, Lopez had remarked on the enduring nature of their love, saying, "Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient."
According to the court filing, Lopez or her attorney must provide Affleck with a copy of her petition to end their marriage.
The petition does not mention details of a prenuptial agreement, and the court documents require both Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, to disclose their financial information, including income, expenses, properties, and debts. Each party has 60 days to file their financial disclosure, and failure to do so could result in sanctions.
Recent media reports have suggested tension in their relationship, with speculation about their separation growing. They have reportedly listed their Beverly Hills mansion for sale at $65 million and were recently seen apart without their wedding rings.
Affleck, a two-time Oscar winner, was previously married to Jennifer Garner, whom he met while filming *Pearl Harbor*. They divorced in 2015 after ten years of marriage and share three children. Lopez, known as J.Lo, has been married four times previously, including to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins. She was also engaged to Alex Rodriguez.
