National hero Arshad Nadeem, who clinched a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, reached Lahore to a warm reception. Invited by the Punjab governor, Nadeem and his family, along with his coach Salman Iqbal Butt, were welcomed with great enthusiasm.
Nadeem will be staying at the Governor House during his visit. Addressing a gathering held in his honour on Saturday morning, he expressed his gratitude for the immense respect and honour he has received from across Pakistan.
“I am deeply thankful to the governor of Punjab for inviting me to the Governor House today. Despite undergoing surgery and dealing with an injury, the support from my teacher and the nation played a crucial role in my victory,” Nadeem said, adding that his coach worked really hard on him.
He reflected on his achievement, noting, “It was a historic moment for Pakistan. Allah granted me success in the second throw, and I am honoured to bring pride to the nation. It happened for the first time in the history of Pakistan that we broke a record. I will continue to work hard to achieve even greater heights.”
Governor Sardar Salim Haider extended a heartfelt welcome to Nadeem, highlighting the significance of his accomplishment.
“Arshad Nadeem’s victory has been a source of immense pride for the Pakistani nation. His achievement at the Paris Olympics has elevated our country’s flag to new heights. We celebrate his success and the joy it has brought to every corner of Pakistan,” said Governor Haider.
He said he offered special prayers and prayed for Arshad's success. He further acknowledged Nadeem’s outstanding performance, stating, “It is remarkable that we are the ones who achieved this victory after 118 years. I knew Arshad Nadeem will throw more than 95 meters. Nadeem’s throws, surpassing 90 meters, are a testament to his dedication and talent. I am hopeful that he will break the world record in the future. My prayers are with him for continued success and for the prosperity of our country.”
In recognition of his historic achievement, Governor Haider presented Nadeem with a cheque of Rs2 million. The entire nation celebrates this momentous victory, which has brought a sense of pride and happiness to Pakistan.
