The Government of Sindh has declared a public holiday on August 20 to commemorate the annual Urs of the revered Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
The provincial government issued an official notification on Friday, confirming the holiday across the province.
The three-day Urs celebrations, which are held every year at the final resting place of the Sufi saint in Bhit Shah, will commence on 14 Safar, according to the Islamic calendar.
The Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is not only a significant spiritual event but also a cultural festival, drawing large crowds to Bhit Shah.
The festivities typically include recitations of the poet's verses, Sufi music, and various cultural performances that celebrate the rich heritage of Sindh.
